Buttermilk Pie Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ⅛ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Preparation method:
First, get your oven preheated to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Then beat the eggs until frothy, add the butter, sugar and flour and beat well until smooth. Then stir in the lemon juice, nutmeg, buttermilk and vanilla. Now put it in the pie shell.
Soon after, we are going to bake until the center is firm, about 40 to 60 minutes.
Finally, remove from the oven and let cool for approximately 1 hour.
Observation
Cover the pie with aluminum foil for the remainder of the baking time if the edges of the pie crust are browning too quickly.
When the top is lightly browned and the center of the pie is still wobbly. You can say that your pie is ready. It will continue to set as it cools. To know if it’s ready, do the toothpick test, stick a toothpick in the center, if it comes out almost clean your pie is ready.
