Blueberry Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup blueberries
  • 2 cups quartered fresh figs
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon balsamic vinegar

Preparation method:

First, let’s crush the blueberries with a fork in a small bowl. Transfer the puréed blueberries to a 3.5 quart saucepan.

Then add the figs, sugar, water, lime juice and balsamic vinegar to the pot. Using an immersion blender, pulse the mixture lightly until almost homogeneous, with a few bits remaining to add texture.

Next, place the pan on the stove over medium-high heat. Stir the mixture continuously while it is starting to boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir periodically for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.

Then, for you to check if the jam is ready, place a small spoonful on a frozen plate and let it sit for 1 to 2 minutes. If it gels, the jam is ready. If it seems thin and liquid, continue cooking.

Finally, when the jam has thickened, remove the pan from the heat and let it cool slightly for about 10 minutes. Pour the jam into a clean jar with an airtight seal.

Let the jam cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.
