Chinese Pepper Steak Ingredients:

  • 1 pound top sirloin steak
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 spoons of white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 2 spoons of corn starch
  • 1 red onion, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 2 tomatoes, cut into rounds

Method of preparation:

First cut the steak into 1/2-inch-thick slices along the grain.

After that mix the soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch and ginger in a bowl until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is homogeneous. After that put the steak slices in the marinade and stir until well coated.

Then heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak strips in batches in hot oil so the pan doesn’t fill up. After that cook and stir until well browned, about 3 minutes, and remove the steak from the wok to a bowl. After that knife again with the remaining steak, adding more oil as needed and setting aside the cooked meat.

Then return the cooked steak strips to the hot wok and stir in the onion. After that stir in the steak and onion until the onion starts to soften, about 2 minutes, then stir in the green pepper.

Now cook and stir the mixture until the peppers are bright green and starting to get soft, about 2 minutes more, then add the tomatoes.

Lastly stir everything to blend and blend flavors and serve.
