Then bake the cake at 325 degrees F for 60 minutes. After that, let it cool in the mold for 5 minutes and remove it from the mold. Then place on platter immediately, right side up. (Pecans should be at the bottom)
Then to make the icing: In the last 15 to 20 minutes of cooking, mix the butter or margarine, water and sugar in a saucepan over high heat. Then reduce the heat to medium and boil quickly until very thick and syrupy, stirring constantly.
After that, the syrup must be very reduced and very thick, otherwise the cake will be soft. Then remove from heat and add rum. Then, with the cake still warm, make holes all over the cake with a toothpick and place the frosting over the cake.
Finally, let the cake rest at room temperature for a day and refrigerate.
