French fries Ingredients:

  • 5 medium potatoes
  • salt
  • vinegar
  • Vegetable oil for frying, about 2 cups

Preparation Method:

First, we need to peel the potatoes and cut them into 1 cm thick sticks. First, cut the potatoes vertically into 4 pieces, and then slice each piece vertically again to create sticks.

Place the potato sticks in a bowl and cover them with water. Then let them soak for about 5 minutes.

Drain the water from the bowl and transfer the potato sticks to a microwave-safe plate. Spread them out evenly and microwave for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat the oil over medium heat until it becomes hot.

Cook the potato sticks in two batches. It should take about 5 minutes for each batch to cook. The edges may start to brown slightly, and the sticks will float to the surface. Avoid browning them too quickly to ensure they are cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the cooked chips.

Place the cooked chips between layers of paper towels and gently press to absorb any excess oil. Keep them covered to retain moisture, which will help soften the chips.

Sprinkle salt and add a dash of vinegar over the chips. Mix well to coat them evenly. Now, they are ready to be enjoyed!

NOTES:

If the chips are browning too quickly, you can reduce the cooking temperature slightly.
