Basic Biscuits Ingredients:

2 cups of wheat flour
1 spoon of baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup shortening
¾ cup cold milk

Preparation method:

Gather all the ingredients and preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).

First in a large bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and salt. After that cut the fat with a fork or blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

After that pour the milk into the flour mixture while stirring with a fork. Now stir in the milk until the dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the side of the bowl.

Then turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead the dough briefly, 5 to 7 times.

Then roll the dough into a 1/2 inch thick sheet and cut the cookies with a floured cookie cutter. After that press the unused dough and repeat the rolling and cutting procedure.

Finally place the cookies on ungreased baking sheets and bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
